ABOUT Rolle
Composer Brandon J. Rolle's music realizes immersive and deeply-expressive sound worlds through an inventive interdisciplinary approach to composition. His musical language asserts a shared, uniquely human experience, incorporating psychoacoustics, electronics, and computer programming to amplify musical gestures with perceptual effects that imbue his music with a distinct sense of physicality. Rolle's diverse output includes chamber, electro-acoustic, and orchestral music, as well as music for film, dance, and intermedia music. His works have been performed at festivals and concerts of new music across the United States and Europe.
In addition to his own creative work, Dr. Rolle is a conductor who champions the works of living composers, and is a dedicated educator with experience teaching traditional music curriculum, contemporary topics, as well as developing new courses. Rolle is co-founder and Artistic Director of the IMPULSE NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL , and teaches a private studio of composition students. An active member of the Los Angeles music community, Rolle contributes as Modern Music Writer for NewClassic.LA, is a concert and artist photographer, and is part of the teams at Equal Sound and Brightwork New Music.
Rolle is based in Los Angeles, California where he works as a freelance composer and conductor. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Masters Degree from Mills College. his primary teachers Joel Feigin, Clarence Barlow, Pauline Oliveros, and Roscoe Mitchell. His compositions and are published by Precious Noise Music, ASCAP.
